Write A Pitch Letter
First of all, you need to know, most businesses get a lot of emails every day. You have to catch their attention quickly.
Research every possible lead to get a name to write to. And then, start out with Dear Ms. or Mr. Last name.
Do not send a letter that is addressed to Dear Madame or Sir. You need to do your research and find a name. I don’t care if you call the company and ask who is in charge of their web based advertising and promotions. I think finding a person’s name, means you are willing to go above and beyond to get the job done.
It is all about the first impression.
Don’t use bold type or a lot of italics. Just type in normal mode. It’s easier to read that way.
Use abbreviations and language as if you were just talking to someone. You don’t want to sound like a robot, sending out mass emails.
Always do some research on the company so you can make it more personal.
Like them on Facebook and leave a comment or say what your favorite product is that they sell.
And how YOUR readers are interested in that sort of item. Know your followers. For instance, mine are almost all women, ages 25-50, with children, some college and married.
Avoid using exclamation marks in pitch or emails. They never inspire confidence in a business situation.
Always include a link to your blog and social media profiles.
Be brief. Tell them what you will do for THEM. And how it will benefit them to work with you.
In mine I include the number of followers I have total between Facebook and Twitter. And then mention that I have more on my other social media pages.
Thank them for taking time to read your email and that you look forward to hearing back from them.
If they are interested, they will email back and ask for anymore stats they need.
Dear (Mr. or Ms.),
We promote on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and several other media sites. I also promote my giveaways in network blogging groups, Blog Her, Bloggy Moms and many sweepstakes sites. One of the entries would be for them to visit your site. And of course, entrants would follow you on Facebook, Twitter and any other social media sites you choose.
