I picked Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.  It’s  funny, and good for ages 13 and up.

When Ferris takes a fake sick day off school, he and his girlfriend and best friend decide to make a big day out of it.  So they take off for a journey through Chicago.  Ferris talks his best friend, Cameron, into letting them take out his father’s priceless sports car.  They stop by Wrigley Field, a fancy restaurant, and an art museum, among other places.

All the while, the principal of their school is out to get them.  He knows they’re up to something.  But the kids stay just one step ahead of him.  They also have to watch out for Ferris’ sister, she’s trying to get her big brother caught.  She sees him get away with things too much and she wants him to get in trouble with their parents.

All of a sudden Ferris realizes the time and that his parents will be home soon. (They think he’s home in bed, sick).  The measures he goes through to beat them home, are so funny.  And just at the last second, he lands in bed before they come into his room.

My 14 year old son and I watched it together.  We both really enjoyed it. And I loved spending time with him.  Now that he’s a teenager, it’s not always that easy to find things to do together.
