Parents on Ellen, David and Tina Long, speak about their son, Tyler, who committed suicide.
In 2009, Tyler Long couldn’t take being bullied anymore and he hung himself in his own bedroom. His father found him.
They had gone to the school many many times and nothing was done! Someone told Tyler he should go home and hang himself! Then at school, some kids wore ropes around their necks! The school did nothing!
The documentary, Bully should be seen by everyone, young and old. It really shows what happens, how kids get bullied and how it makes them feel.
We all need to talk to our children about this issue. We need to teach them how much words can hurt and to stand up for other kids, when necessary. And if one of our kids tells us they are being picked on, we have to listen and do everything possible, until it stops.
DoSomething.org is a place to find ways to help out with bullying.
Were you or one of your children bullied? Let us know how you handled it in the comments. We all need help and suggestions.

I was bullied when I was in elementary school, traumatized by 4 boys and 3 girls. I told my mother and father I did NOT want to go back to school and told them the reason. My mother ended up in the principals office! The principal (Mrs Morvant I LOVED HER) did NOT tolerate actions like that. Those 7 kids had detention for a month and I was told by the principal that if they ever told me anything mean or did anything that I did not like to me, to go straight to her and she would handle it. I grew up having a lot of respect for that principal and a few teachers who did not tolerate bullies. When my daughter was bullied by her principal, I handled it! The PA system was on and I did not know it, the entire school heard what I had to say. LOL The teachers were happy that someone finally told the principal off! It’s time we all stand up for our kids, teachers, principals and parents! We need to let our kids know we are there for them, to come talk to us if something is going on. If we don’t, then we can’t help! I repeatedly told my daughter to come to me about issues. She always did! I’m alive today because of my parents, the principals and teachers in that school! My daughter is alive because of my telling her not to just accept a situation, come to me and talk about it. The problem we have today is LACK OF COMMUNICATION! Sorry, I know this is long, but it makes me sick that these kids are killing themselves for NO reason!
