I used to be a person, too. Just like all of you!
I remember when I was a bit (ok a lot) younger, I used to have a lot of fun things to do. And some great friends to do it with.
In High School I was a majorette, which was really fun. Even though I wasn’t one of the “in crowd” and all of the majorettes weren’t all that nice to me. But some were and I really enjoyed it. For once in my life I had found something I was good at. I had some great friends back then, too.
Skipping up to my 20’s, I moved to a little bit bigger city than where I had grown up. I had a job and an apartment and a baby. I went to work every day in a really nice office building. I was a secretary for a nice man, who had just started a business. So I ran the office and I got pretty good at it. I really liked that job. Back then, we used typewriters and I got really fast at typing.
I had great friends back then. We went to clubs, dancing, almost every week end.
I never drank, just always had a coke. I never did like beer or liquor. But I loved going out dancing. The music was my favorite and boy was it loud! I swear that’s why I have this horrible ringing in my ears now. If it’s too quiet it keeps me awake at night. So I have to have a fan on.
My friends and I went to a LOT of concerts back then. I saw so many bands, Fleetwood Mac, Peter Frampton, The Bee Gees, Super Tramp and a lot more. Every time there was a concert close by, we went. Of course then it was like $10 to get in. I remember one time, we were going to one two hours away and my car wasn’t running too well. Every time we had to stop and shut the engine off, I had to get under the hood and start it with a screw driver. But it was ok, we made it there and back. I wouldn’t do that now, for anything!
We had front-row seats at this Bee Gees Concert!
What I mean by, I used to be a person, is that now I only do things for everyone else. Well, I do have my blog, that’s for me! But I have kids and a husband and that’s mostly who I do things for. I’m not saying I don’t want them, I love them all very much! I’m not the same as I used to be though. I don’t want to go out to clubs or go dancing anymore. Heck, I’m tired by 9:00! And that’s when people just start going out!
We moved down here to Georgia 3 years ago. The photo below is a sunset in my back yard. I do miss my two older kids and grandkids, terribly! I feel like I’m missing them growing up and I barely know them anymore. I love it here, but I hate that! I’d give anything if they’d all move down here. And my oldest son, when we first moved here I thought sure he would move here, eventually. But he doesn’t want to and he has a good job up in Ohio. He’s doing so well! I’m really proud of all my kids. They’re really good people! We must have done something right, in raising them.
I’m still a person and have things I love! Come to think of it, I wouldn’t want to go back or do any of the things I used to. So all in all, I’m still myself! I just wish I wasn’t getting so old! And I wish time wouldn’t go by so fast! The older I get, the faster it goes.
We all just need to make the best out of every day! And be ourselves!
Does time go faster for you too?
