#Halloween Candy Corn Cake
Well this is my attempt at another Halloween treat. It’s supposed to look like candy corn, in case you can’t tell.
I saw a picture of this candy corn cake on Pinterest and I thought it wouldn’t be too hard to make. Well, there must be a trick to doing the icing because mine just doesn’t look very good.
So I’ll put the recipe on here and hopefully, probably, yours will look a lot better!
If you want to use homemade frosting, get the recipe here.
Halloween Candy Corn Cake
Cooks in
Ingredients
- 1 Cake Mix (I used Orange)
- Eggs according to directions on box
- Water
- Shortening
- Icing (I used Canned Cream Cheese)
- Yellow and Red Food Coloring
- Orange Sugar Sprinkles (Optional)
Directions
- Make cake according to box directions. Since it\'s one layer, I used about 3/4 of the mix in my round 9\" pan.
- Line cake pan with parchment paper and Spray with non-stick
- Bake cake according to box, although if you use 3/4 of the mix it will take a little longer
- Cool in pan for about 15 minutes then invert onto rack, peel away parchment paper, turn right side up and cool in refrigerator for about 20 minutes. (Makes it easier to cut)
- Then cut into wedges and put on parchment covered cookie sheet and freeze for 30 minutes.
- Divide icing (Homemade or Canned) into 3 bowls, one white, one yellow and red & yellow for orange
- When froze, take out one wedge at a time to put on frosting. Leaving the rest in freezer
- Shake on some Orange Sprinkles
- Put the whole cake in refrigerator until ready to serve
