Device Used In Hysterectomies Might Have Caused Cancer
All women need to read this! Even if you aren’t going to have a hysterectomy, you’ll probably know someone who is, sooner or later.
There’s been some lawsuits filed for this problem. The American Recall Center has all the information.

What is a Power Morcellator? A device used in hysterectomies to cut tissue into small pieces to be removed from the body. However, uterine cancers sometimes go undetected prior to the procedure. In these cases, the morcellator dices up and spreads unsuspected cancer inside the woman’s body.
-
Hysterectomy is the 2nd most common surgery among women in the United States
-
By age 70, one out of three American women will have had a hysterectomy
-
90% of these surgeries are done to remove Fibroids (non-cancerous tumors found in the uterus)
-
The average life span following accidental morcellation of sarcoma is only 24-36 months
-
Only 15% of women who have leiomyosarcoma (LMS) that has spread (stage 4) will be alive after 5 years
-
Women with sarcoma who are morcellated are about 4 times more likely to die from sarcoma than if they had not been morcellated.
I can’t believe they used a device that might have caused cancer in us! Johnson & Johnson no longer sells this device. So that’s great! If you think this device was used for a surgery on you, go to the American Recall Center and fill out the form for a free case review.
Please share this! All women need to know about it!

This is just unreal!! When I read something like this I think of numerous questions I want to ask. Thanks so much for sharing this.
This is very alarming!
Well that is really scary. I will definitely let any woman I know who has had a hysterectomy know in case they weren’t aware. Glad they aren’t selling them anymore. :/
Oh my goodness this is super scary!! I had a complete hysterectomy a few years back and believe this was used on me. I am so glad to have come across this article, thank you so VERY much!!!
This is scary! My mom had to have a hysterectomy. I’ll definitely have to tell her about this. I hope this isn’t the case for her!!
Valarie, I’m sorry to hear that! She’s probably fine. They do check for this now. So maybe she should just see if her doctor can do a check-up. I really hope everything’s ok, it probably is!
Hi Jody,
Good to be over at your blog as well![:)](/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Never heard of Power Morcellator earlier, though your post reminded me of the time when my Mom underwent Hysterectomy, long back, and she died because of cancer, though it was lung cancer. This might not have been the reason, or perhaps she should have got Uterine cancer, if I am not mistaken, but I could relate because she went through both of these.
I think women need to be so careful nowadays, and most importantly – more aware, isn’t it?
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend![:)](/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Harleena, I’m so sorry to hear about your mother! I lost mine a few years ago too. I know how you feel. And yes, I wish I could get this out to every single woman. I’m trying. Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!
Hysterectomy seems so common. I feel its good that Johnson and Johnson is not selling it any more. It is nice to give this important information to many out there who are unaware of the cause of cancer like me in most of cases.![My Profile](/wp-content/plugins/commentluv/images/littleheart.gif)
